'Ένα δεκατετράχρονο κορίτσι, η Σούζι Σάλμον, γυρνώντας από το σχολείο, το Δεκέμβριο του 1973, πέφτει θύμα αποτρόπαιου βιασμού και στη συνέχεια δολοφονείται. Τώρα το κορίτσι, από το μυστηριώδες, μεταβατικό εκείνο στάδιο μεταξύ γης και ουρανού πια, παρακολουθεί καθημερινά την οικογένειά της, που προσπαθεί μάταια να συμβιβαστεί με την απώλεια, αλλά και τους φίλους και τους γνωστούς της, διαπιστώνοντας τις επιπτώσεις που είχε η δολοφονία της σε κάθε έναν ξεχωριστά. Όταν καλείται να επιλέξει μεταξύ της επιθυμίας να εκδικηθεί το δολοφόνο της και τού να δει την οικογένειά της να προχωρά, με κάπως επουλωμένες πληγές, το δίλημμα είναι τεράστιο? '
